We met Heather Miles while attending meetings of the Stonewall Democrats Caucus in Little Rock, a place where she has remained active, usually in a behind-the-scenes capacity.

Heather said she grew up in “mainly Spain and Washington, D.C.” and now lives in Little Rock where she works as an attorney in the field of juvenile justice (abuse/neglect and criminal law).

We asked Heather to answer the following:

Talk about some of the work you have done for the GLBT community.
“I am very active with the Stonewall Democratic Caucus and seek to bring equality and support to the GLBT community.”

What are your thoughts on coming out, advice to others, etc.?

“I think that coming out is freeing on a personal basis and helps bring understanding and acceptance.”

What do you see in the near future and long-range for gay rights/equality?
“We will see greater equality and acceptance for the GLBT community and long term gay rights will include a significant form of marriage equality.”
